Pyunik Girls’ historic win in the Women’s Champions League

The semi-final matches of Group 3 of the first qualifying round of the 2025/26 Women’s Champions League were held in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, where the Armenian champion Pyunik Girls team began the competition.

Our girls faced Bulgaria’s NSA Sofia in the semi-finals. By the end of the regular time of the match, there were zeros on the scoreboard and it seemed that the game would be continued in the extra time.

However, in the first minute of added time, our player Veronika Asatryan skillfully bypassed two players in the opponent’s penalty area and with a sharp shot gave Pyunik Girls a 1:0 victory.

It is noteworthy that the victory of Pyunik Girls led by Manuk Sargsyan in the Women’s Champions League was the first not only in the history of our club, but among the women’s teams represented Armenia in the tournament.

Let’s add that in the final match of this group our team will compete with the hosts, North Macedonia’s Ljuboten, which won 4:1 the other semi-final match against NSI Runavik of the Faroe Islands. The final match will be held on August 2.
