Pyunik defeats Van by a large margin

In the 9th round of the Fastex Premier League, Pyunik hosted Van Charentsavan at the Abovyan City Stadium.

It should be noted that in the previous championship, the Charentsavan club had been in struggle with Pyunik for reaching the top four and securing a place in the European Cup, and in the penultimate round, they had even managed to defeat Pyunik 3-2 at home, although our team had already secured their 4th place.

Nevertheless, in the last match, Pyunik performed brilliantly and played perhaps their best game in the current championship.

Already in the 5th minute, after Javi Moreno’s strong shot, Van’s goalkeeper Danila Bokov sent the ball to the corner with a quick jump.

In the 27th minute, Pyunik managed to open the score; Sergiy Vakulenko threw a wide pass from his own half to Marius Noubissi, who, as a result of an uncoordinated action of the opponent's goalkeeper and defender, was able to send the ball into the Van's goal, 1-0.

With the goal scored, the Cameroonian forward opened his list of goals in the current championship.

In the 38th minute, Alemao sent the ball to Gevorg Tarakhchyan with a calculated pass, and the latter, quickly getting rid of the defender, faced the goalkeeper alone and made the score 2-0.

Just 3 minutes later, Pyunik already had a three-goal advantage. After Van's player Davit Kirakosyan’s wrong pass, Marius Noubissi took the ball and, deceiving the defender, managed to pass the ball through the goalkeeper's legs, scoring a brace.

At the very start of the second half, Van's players again played inconsistently, as a result of which Gevorg Tarakhchyan, bypassing the goalkeeper, took the empty goal and recorded a brace too.

In the 61st minute, Henry Avagyan, who assumed the duties of the team captain in this game, sprang into action. After Lucas Brune's strong shot, Henry acted reliably and saved our team.

After that, the guests created two more dangerous moments near Pyunik's goal, but in one case, after Lucas Brune's curve shot Henry Avagyan was able to throw the ball to a corner with great difficulty, in another case Davit Kirakosyan was close to score a goal from a close range, but the ball hit the goalpost.

Pyunik could have punished the opponent right away; substitute Matas Vareika face alone the goalkeeper, could have passed the ball to Gevorg Tarakhchyan, who was in a more convenient position, and helped his teammate score a hat-trick, but the Lithuanian footballer tried to finish the attack on his own and shot very unsuccessfully.

Instead, our other forward, Marius Noubissi, who had regained his aim in this game, scored a hat-trick. Thanks to Nikolaos Kainourgios’s brilliant pass, Noubissi made the score 5-0 with an unstoppable header.

At the end of the game, the players of Van managed to open the score. Karlen Hovhannisyan fouled on Petros Afajanyan in his own penalty area, and the victim himself accurately scored the assigned penalty kick.

Pyunik won 5-1 and continues to chase the teams of the top four.

After this round, the teams will take a short break due to international matches, after which on October 18, Pyunik will meet Van again, this time in Charentsavan.
