Pyunik suffers defeat in Charentsavan

The Fastex Premier League championship resumed after a short break due to international matches. In another round, Pyunik was received by Van in Charentsavan, which had been defeated 5:1 by Pyunik away in the previous round.

Already in the 2nd minute, the hosts created the first threat near the Pyunik goal, when after Saba Sidamonidze’s header, the ball deflected off the horizontal goalpost, then Kawa Ferreira, coming up, tried to score, but Henry Avagyan reacted fast, saving our team from an imminent goal.

In the 12th minute, Pyunik had a great opportunity to open the score. Matas Vareika approached the Van penalty area from a far distance and could have passed the ball to Javi Moreno who was free at that moment, but tried to complete the attack alone and hit the ball directly at goalkeeper Gor Manukyan.

In the 27th minute, Henry Avagyan saved Pyunik from trouble for the second time in this match, miraculously pushing back Yusuf Ibrahim’s shot from close range.

Before the break, the Van players managed to take the lead. Sergiy Vakulenko, who was playing his 100th match in the Fastex Premier League championships, violated the rules of the game in his own penalty area and referee Vardan Manukyan awarded a penalty kick. Petros Afajanyan accurately scored the goal, 1-0.

In the 64th minute, Daniil Kulikov managed to equalize the score, but the referee dismissed the goal with the help of VAR.

It should be noted that in the second half, Lucas Villela came on as a substitute for Pyunik; it was his first game for our team after a serious injury he had received in August of last year.

In the 81st minute, Marius Noubissi, facing alone the goalkeeper, failed to take advantage of a great opportunity and shot wide.

Pyunik spent the final part of the game with 10 players; our team captain Aleksandar Miljkovic received a second yellow card for arguing with the referee and was sent off the field.

Having received a quantitative advantage, the players of Van managed to double their advantage 5 minutes before the end of the game. The goal was scored by Erik Bento.

However, in the added time of the match, Marius Noubissi managed to reduce the score difference, but our team failed to do more. Pyunik lost 1-2 and remained in the fifth place in the tournament table.

Our team will play the next match on October 25, hosting Gandzasar at home.
