In the penultimate round of the 2025/26 Fastex Premier League season, Pyunik faced Gandzasar away at Junior Sport Stadium.
The tight competition at the top of the standings and the intense battle for prize places forced Pyunik to move on and solve their tasks on their own.
Our players started the match actively, and in the 16th minute, after a three-pass combination by Pyunik, Xavi Moreno sent the ball into the Gandzasar net with one touch — 0:1. It was certainly a great start for our team and a serious statement of intent in this match.
In the 37th minute, Gevorg Tarakhchyan came close to doubling our advantage when he aimed for the far top corner inside the Gandzasar penalty area, but the ball bounced back off the crossbar. Minutes later, Tarakhchyan fired another shot, and once again the ball somehow stayed out of the net. Overall, Gevorg was very active throughout the match and put in a huge amount of work.
In the first half, Pyunik had a clear advantage, creating dangerous attacks and could have gone into the break leading by at least two or three goals. Daniil Kulikov and Alemao also had excellent chances for our team.
In the 65th minute, Pyunik’s pressure paid off once again. Daniil Kulikov delivered a cross from the right flank into the opponent’s penalty area, where after a first-time effort by Filipe Almeida, Gandzasar goalkeeper Nikita Lobusov barely managed to parry the ball, but Momo Yansane reacted first and doubled the score — 0:2. The Guinean striker scored his 7th goal in 11 matches during the spring part of the current championship, equaling Marius Noubissi.
No further changes followed until the final whistle, and Pyunik earned another important three points. Our team now needs only one point from the remaining two matches to secure qualification for European competitions.
Artak Oseyan’s team will play their next match on May 23 in the postponed Round 13 fixture against Noah at the Avan Football Academy Stadium.
