In the first round of the 2025/26 Fastex Premier League, Pyunik defeated Alashkert.

After the match, during the post-match press conference, Pyunik head coach Yeghishe Melikyan shared his observations on the game.

“I am happy and proud of our team. We have a really good team. I’m the only person who knows how difficult it was today. The team was deeply shocked by the elimination from the European Cup, it was a stressful period, and I could see that we had not fully recovered yet. But our boys did a great job. Despite the weather conditions, fatigue and psychological difficulties, we were able to win. The opponent had time to prepare, we did not. Of course, the game may have seemed slow, but that was due to the weather. Nevertheless, it was a very good, interesting and competitive game. I cannot say that we won because we had an advantage. Both teams were good, but today we succeeded.”
