Tomorrow Pyunik will start performing at the VBET Armenian Premier League. Starting from this season the league has a new name and will be held in a new format during three rounds.

The previous season was a failure for our team. Pyunik showed the worst result in the championship during its existence, taking the 8^th position. In addition, our team was deprived of the qualification for the Eurocups for the first time in 18 years.

Preparing for the new season Pyunik held a training camp in Dilijan. Before the start of the training camp our team won 4-0 CSKA in a friendly match. During the Dilijan training camp Pyunik lost 0-2 to Gandzasar-Kapan, then conceded 2-4 to the newcomer of the championship, Van, and tied the last friendly match of the preseason phase with West-Armenia, 1-1.

In the first matchday of the new VBET Armenian Premier League Pyunik will be hosted by Ararat.

In the matches of the previous championship between the teams Ararat had an obvious advantage. In the first round Ararat won 4-1 an away match and 4-2 the match of the second round.

It should be noted that 15 footballers have left our team since the spring part of the previous championship. But on the eve of the new season Pyunik has got new members such as Gor Malakyan, Anton Kobyalko, Alexdandre Primael Yeoule, Artyom Avanesyan, Artur Grigoryan, Muhammad Yusuf Ladan and Stanislav Buchnev. By the way, in case of participating in the upcoming match the last two will make their debut in the Armenian championship.

Out team’s coaching staff has undergone changes too. Instead of Roman Berezovsky Artak Oseyan who had already led our team in the 2016/17 season took the helm of Pyunik’s head coach.

As it was mentioned earlier, Pyunik will spend all its home matches of the current championship at the Republican Stadium.

Let us add that the Ararat vs Pyunik match will take place at the Republican Stadium and will kick off at 19:30.
